In the article Bear of a Coach almost gave Obama a run for his money, I learned for the first time that republicans wanted former Bears head coach Mike Ditka to run against Barrack Obama for senator of Illinois.  It starts out by talking about how he is a motivational speaker and was at a naval accademy where he was asked about the patriots losing to the giants. The article then flashes back to 2004 when the republican party was courting Ditka to run against Obama for senate.  When asked about his views on certain issues, he answered with conservative views and his resposes were very well presented and spoken.  Finally, when he was asked about if he would be interested in politics, he responded, “I thought about it,” “for ten minutes.”

I thought this was a pretty funny article.  It reminded me of Arnold winning govern(at)or of California. Thinking of Ditka as a senator made me laugh until i read about his stances on issues and he seemed like he could be a politician.  The article itself was written in a way to inform you that it was supposed to be a little humorous yet informative at the same time.  It made me more interested in the article just by how it made me wonder who was stepping up against Obama.  Reading this makes me wonder what would have happened if he did run for senator way back when.  If he won, Obama would definately not be running for president this election.  I guess all we can do is imagine what Illinois would be like with powerhouse Ditka at the helm.

To compare his near run with Arnold’s is probably pretty accurate. Imagine the jokes that would have come out of this.

Thats quite the amusing article. I like how you compared it to Arnold.

It’s really wierd to imagine people in a political position you wouldn’t envision them in. Arnold becoming governor of California is a joke in itself to me, but it’s been done before, by Ronald Reagan, who revolutionized our country.
